small banana -50cal
I worked in the garden for 30 minutes or so then came inside and did some leg lifts and reverse pull-ups. Hopefully later tonight I can get in a walk.

Breastfeeding

While I was pregnant last year I took excellent care of myself. I ate healthy foods, drank plenty of water and got exercise. All that diligence paid off. I was in the hospital nearly two weeks due to complications but when we finally came home I weighed what I weighed when I got pregnant. I was so proud of myself. I was also looking forward to losing even more weight while breastfeeding. As I had read over and over, breastfeeding mothers expend an extra 500 calories a day. I was sure to shed the pounds! Unfortunately that didn't happen. Since I have become a breastfeeding stay-at-home mom I have gained 20lbs. I thought, "There must be something wrong with me!" I even went to my doctor and had my thyroid checked, but it was fine. I can't say that this is a myth. It's is very true for many mothers. I've heard it in my LLL meetings, on TV and read on the Internet. It seems everywhere I look a new mother is exclaiming "I can eat whatever I want! I don't gain an ounce while I'm breastfeeding!" I must admit, I sorta want to hurt those women.

Day 6

No Mt. Dew for 2 days! AWESOME! I have had soda (sprite) but just getting away from Dew is an accomplishment! I'm going to Mom's today. She always has tons of junk food but I will stick to my diet! I learned my lesson last time I was there. Oreo cookies and so quickly take up all the day's calories!

Thats 2000 calories.

overly processed foods

This is a great tip! One which I plan to follow, for sure! To help you keep you intake of overly processed food in check, don't eat anything in which the milligrams of salt is larger than the calories :) Happy Eating!!

Day 3 and what a beautiful day it is!

Yesterday is over! I love the start of a new day. What a wonderful feeling to know that at anytime we can change everything. Yesterday does not define me :)
2 cups of coffee with cream and sugar -120cal
So much of eating is psychological. A large plate with small portions often leaves me wanting more. So, I'm going to take those salad plates off the top self and start eating my meals on them!

Pasta salad -189cal

A Renoir Painting

Here's the deal. So far from my blog a probably come off like I'm a self conscious and vain girl. But I'm really not. I've been all shapes and sizes in my 28 years and for the most part I've always been comfortable with who I am. Most of my adult life I've felt beautiful. But now here I am, size 16 and 175 pounds and I don't feel good about myself. There's nothing wrong in wanting to lose a few or 50lbs to feel better. I don't want to look like Kate Moss or Kelly Rippa. I just want to be comfortable in my own clothes and my own skin. I LOVE my curves! My round ass, big boobs and soft belly make a wonderful place for my husband to cuddle and play and for my baby to sleep and nurse and just be happy. So here's to feeling beautiful and being healthy! I cherish my curves! I hope you too cherish whatever you're carrying around. So today, I'm gonna shake it! Shake it like a polaroid picture!

day 2

8am
So the day isn't exactly starting off on the healthiest foot
BREAKFAST
pistachio pudding pie -217cal
coffee with creamer and sugar -60cal x2 120cal
(maybe I should get use to coffee without sugar)
Here's my weight loss tip for the day. Brush your teeth after eating. It will keep you from going right back to the fridge. (tip came from jillianmichaels.com
11:15am SNACK
20oz Mt Dew (the shame!) -290cal
2 slices honey wheat with 1/2tbsp butter -150cal
I can't seem to give up that one Dew per day. But tomorrow that will be my goal. Wish me luck! No idea what will be for dinner, no doubt it will along side a salad with homemade vinegarette and be grilled since it's a beautiful day. I plan to get my exercise in by way of weeding the veggie garden.
Oh boy, oh boy. The rest of the afternoon was terrible!! I went to my Mom's house and completely fell off the wagon. Dinner wasn't much better.
OK at Mom's
1.5 can Dew -225cal
10 Oreo cookies -700cal, let me repeat 700cal! That's right 10 cal in 1 cookie
BLT on white with mayo -270cal
cherry laughy taffy- 120cal
pistachio pie -217cal
I got no exercise! :(
DINNER
2 BBQ pork rips -545cal
1 grilled ear of corn with butter -97cal
High Life Light -110cal
OK I have to be completely honest. I realize that just because I don't acknowledge it here doesn't mean those calories don't exist. I also had..
pasta salad -100cal
So my calorie calculator says i had about 2172. That's just an estimate. I can't always find the exact food with the exact numbers. Junk food calories add up so quickly. But lets be honest, dinner wasn't a beacon of health either. Who cares!? I went to my Mom's, I slipped up. But it's OK :) It's a new day!

Forget the scale

I hate the scale. My new mission to lose 50lbs isn't really about being thinner (although that is a BIG benefit) I just want to be healtier. I want to learn to make the healthier choice everytime (at least most of the time) I ingest food. So, I will not be weighing myself. Instead I will measure my waist. I carry most of my fat in my midsection. Apparently Im what is called an "apple shape" So, here's my first measurement
39 inches :(

In the beginning, Day 1

Ok. Here's the deal. I'm five foot one inch tall and 175lbs. It's ridiculous!! I'm 50fucking pounds over weight. I'm as short as I am fat, I look like a beach ball. Hense the name of the blog. So, this will be my own personal journal. I will log what I eat, how much, when I exercise and how I feel so that I can learn how to deal with emotions should I find that Im an emotional eater. But I don't think I am. I will be using google's calorie calculator to help me keep track. I'm aiming for no more than 1600 calories a day. I also want to keep notes about healthy living and eating as I learn. So here's the tally for today
BREAKFAST
1 cup of coffee with non-dairy creamer and sugar - 60cal
1 diet Dr Pepper - 0cal
2 slices of honey wheat toast with butter and strawberry jam - 305cal
SNACK
Whole grain corn chips and mango salsa - 300cal
1 Diet Dr Pepper - 0cal
EXERCISE
From 10:40 - 11:00 Katie and I did a dance aerobic exercise video on the netflix/wii
She loved it!! So did I.
Not sure yet what I'll have for lunch. Best not to wait to long and allow myself to get too hungry. Otherwise I'll eat shitty food and eat too much of it. So.....
Tuna with freshly ground pepper and lemon juice on honey wheat bread and green beans (canned)
:)
Went out to get dog food, bought and drank a bottle of Mt. Dew -280cal
Came home ate tuna right out of the pouch seasoned with coarse ground black pepper and lemon juice -80cal
6 crackers -140cal
bottle of water
Still hungry
1 large jonagold apple -100cal
smoked sharp cheddar (114cal per ounce) -228?cal
1 Diet Dr. Pepper
Holy shit! Thats 1,213 calories, that only leaves 387cal for the rest of the day! Planning on having grill hamburger and a salad for dinner.
Bread and butter -75cal
Dan just called, he's bring home french onion dip and potato chips. I will not eat the dip, I will not eat the dip.
Ok, so I did not eat the dip. I also did not eat the pistachio pudding pie!
However I did eat a hamburger -260cal
Green beans -10cal
That puts my total at just over 1700cal. Not to bad.:)
